Forest Fire, 1878
New Jersey Courier 15 May 1879: "An extensive forest fire has been raging for several days past in Manchester and Jackson Townships, devastating a large section of wooded country west of Manchester, extending in the direction of White's Bridge, Cassville and Colliers Mills. Thousands of acres have been burned over and at last account the fire was still prevailing."
Thomas Grant obituary, 1916
from New Egypt Press 14 Apr 1916 Thomas Grant, who had been seriously ill for the past two months, died at Colliers Mills yesterday afternoon. He was 54 years of age and until his last sickness had always been a hearty, hard working man. A widow and seven children survive him. The children are: Mrs Clara Ridgeway of Juliustown; Mrs Matilda Grover of this place; James of Archertown; and Allen, Roy, Wilbur & Elizabeth who lived with their parents. The funeral was on Sunday at one o'clock

News From Colliers Mills, 1900
New Jersey Courier 4 Oct 1900: The seven year old daughter of Alfred Southard has been very sick with the whooping cough and pneumonia, but is somewhat better now. There are one hundred twenty five Italians picking cranberries at this place. Mrs. Caroline Smith of Trenton has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Jennie Reynolds the past week. Henry Lewis is suffering with a boil on his nose. Wiliam Cawley expects to get done picking cranberries this week. He will not have more than one hundred and fifty boxes, where he generally has five to eight hundred boxes. James Buckalew, George Vannote, and Benjamin Buckalew killed nine wood duck Saturday last.
