16 Year old armed robbery in Lakewood, 1994

Asbury Park Press 10 Mar 1994 A 16-year-old Lakewood boy plead guilty yesterday to his role in a botched armed robbery in which a liquor store owner was shot and killed. Thorntom Merriweather waived jurisdiction of his case from juvenile court yesterday prior to his entering a plea to first-degree aggravated manslaughter before Superior Court Judge James N. Citta in Toms River. Under questioning by his attorney, Steven N. Cucci, Merriweather admitting going to Best Liquors of Lakewood on Sept. 18, 1993, along with Raheem Montgomery, 19; Paris Martin, 19, and Teron R. Savoy, 18, all of Lakewood, and knowing that Montgomery possessed a handgun and Savoy a shotgun. According to Ocean County Prosecutor Daniel Carluccio, store owner Sridnar Baile, 23, and his brother, Shravan Baile, 32, both of Staten Island, were leaving Best Liquors on Ocean Avenue after closing the store at 10:23 p.m. when they were confronted by the four teenagers in the parking lot. New Jersey Courier 2 Aug 1929 HELD AS SUSPECTS Tuckerton, July 28 Early Monday morning State Police at Tuckerton were notified by George Vogt, who operates a service station not far from Parkertown, that someone had made an attempt to rob his place for the second time within the week. Vogt was able to furnish a fairly good description of the offenders. Troopers Burgess and Klitch picked up two youths in West Tuckerton in an old Ford, who gave their names as Marshall Forman, 20, and Francis Hudspeck, 19, both of Missouri. The tropers arrested the young men on suspicion and committed them to the County jail at Toms River, pending further investigation

OFFICER SHOOTS NEGRO IN JERSEY HOLDUP

From the Asbury Park Press 20 Oct 1923 Camden, Oct 20- Charles Johnson, negro, an alleged highwayman, was at the point of death in a hospital here as the result of a shooting affray with Raymond Watson, a policeman, who sought to arrest him early today at his home in Woodbury after a motorist had reported being held up, beaten and robbed. The policeman had a bullet wound in his chest but maintained guard over his prisoner in the hospital. Johnson was traced to his home by the motorist, O.E. Bellini of Philadelphia. Bellini said four bandits on teh Paulsboro road near Woodbury had leaped out of a motor car, brandishing pistols and ordered him to halt his car. "Johnson struck me over the head with a blackjack", Bellini said. "The other three held pistols to my body and searched me. They could not find my money and I handed them $3 I had in one pocket"
