Peddler robbed in Bayville, 1879

New Jersey Courier 15 May 1879 We learn that a peddler who was stopping over night at the house of Henry Tappan, Bayville, had his wagon back open and robbed of about $100 worth of goods Thursday night; no clue has yet been obtained as to who the thieves were.

Mrs. William Davis obituary, 1909

from New Jersey Courier 24 Dec 1909 Mrs William C Davis, who for only a few days suffered with pneumonia, died at her home on Sunday at eleven o'clock. She was sixty eight years of age. Surviving are her widower, three daughters, Mrs Henry Miller of Atlantic City Mrs Flora Shouels (Showell), Miss Lizzie Davis of this place; two sons, William and Isaac; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Joseph Hankins; three brothers, Joseph E, John W and E P White. She was the daughter of the late Judge James D and Amy White. She was converted in her youth and united with the M E Church of this place. The funeral services will be conducted by the pastor, Rev Edgar Craig, from her home Thursday at one o'clock; two o'clock at the M E Church. Interment will be made at the cemetery near the church

Florence Roberts obituary 1922

Lakewood Citizen 1 Dec 1922 At 10 o'clock on Sunday evening, Mrs Florence White Pettit Roberts, wife of Thomas Roberts. died at her East Fourth Street home from the effects of cancer. Mrs Roberts had been in ill health for a long while and had been suffering particularly during the few weeks past. Mrs Roberts was in her 48th year and besides being survived by an aged mother now living in Whitesville, she leaves a husband and seven children. They are Raymond, Carl, Hazel, George, Mavis and Olive Pettit and Mary Roberts. The following brothers also survive: George, Warren, Charles, Joseph and Mack White of Whitesville and a half brother, Henry Cooper of Englishtown. The funeral services were held at 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon at the Episcopal church. The service was conducted by the Rev Mr Hugh D Jones with undertaker CHT Clayton, of Adelphia, in charge of the interment which took place in Woodlawn Cemetery
