Mrs. G.M. Cook has been very ill but is improving slowly at this writing.
John Brown has captured a very pretty blacksnake nearly six feet long, captured down in the meadow near the creek.
Thomas Steward has in his possession a very peculiar looking bird of the owl species.It is larger than the screen owl, and has a head greatly resembling a monkey or human face. When approached it shows strange signs of defense, although quite harmless. Mr. Steward captured the owl on his farm several weeks ago.
Holmes Wright of Newark, is spending a week's vacation with Mrs. Rebecca Wright and family.
