from the New Jersey Courier 18 Oct 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strauss of Lakewood received word of the death of their only son, F. Axel R. Strauss, who died in Buffalo, NY from influenza. He was 20 years of age and had for some time been employed in the Brooklyn navy yard.
