Brazil Grover

 In 1900, Brazil Grover and family lived in Shrewsbury. Brazil was born in Dec 1865; his wife, Hattie E. had been born in May 1870. They were married about 1890; Hattie had g iven birth four times by 1900. Grover was working as a day laborer at that time. The children living with them were: Georgianna, b. Mar 1891 Elsworth, b. Jul 1892 Harry, b. Feb 1895 Muriel, b. Jan 1900 In 1910, Gilmore Betzel and his wife, Georgeanna, were living in Lakewood, Ocean Co., with her family: 1910 Census: Sampson Ave, Lakewood: Grover Brazil 42 NJ laborer- odd jobs Grover Hattie 39 NJ Grover Elsworth 17 NJ laborer- odd jobs Grover Muriel 10 NJ Betzel Gilmore 21 NJ laborer- odd jobs Gilmore is Brazil's son-in-law Betzel Georganna 19 NJ Georganna is Brazil's daughter B y 1920, Gilmore was apparently dead. Georgianna was living with her aunt, Hannah Shomar (sp?) on Clinton Ave in Newark. Hannah was a widow, like Georgianna. Hannah was 65. Also in the home in Newark was Hannah's daughter, Viola

Thomas Grant obituary, 1916

New Egypt Press, Friday April 14,1916: "Thomas Grant, who had been seriously ill for the past two months, died at Colliers Mills yesterday afternoon. He was 54 years of age and until his last sickness had always been a hearty, hard working man. A widow and seven children survive him. The children are: Mrs Clara Ridgeway of Juliustown; Mrs Matilda Grover of this place; James of Archertown; and Allen, Roy, Wilbur & Elizabeth who lived with their parents. The funeral was on Sunday at one o'clock".

John Parker obituary, 1910

from the New Egypt Press 4 Feb 1910 John Parker, aged about 69 years, died at the home of his son Charles Parker, near Cookstown, on Wednesday evening, after a lingering illness. Mr. Parker was sawyer at Hauche Miche for many years. He is survived by two sons, George and Charles and three daughters, Mrs. Jennie Grover of Davisville, Mrs. Rhoda Cawley of near Cookstown, and Miss Anna Parker of near Pasedena, N.J.

Harrison Grover obituary, 1923

from the Asbury Park Press 20 Oct 1923 Harrison A. Grover, aged 44, a farmer of Glendola, died yesterday of cancer of the stomach at his home. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Archie, a mother, Mrs. Rhoda Boyce and two half brothers, Charles Flock of Red Bank, George J. Boyce of this city, and four half sisters, Mrs. Jennie Kirby, Mrs. Oliver Eberley, this city, Mrs. Joseph Lefferson, Colts Neck, and Mrs. Grace Townley, Elizabeth. Funeral services will be held at the house Monday afternoon t 2 and at the Glendola M.E. Church at 2:30, in charge of Rev. H. Hampton assisted by Rev. H.S. Hull. Services at the Glendola cemetery will be in charge of the Belmar lodge of Moose, 1327, of which the deceased had been a member. Undertaker Bodine is in charge.

Toms River Yacht Club, 1921

NEW JERSEY COURIER 16 DEC 1921 Commodore Horace A. Doan's drive for new members in the Toms River yacht club resulted last Friday night in the election of ten more men, as follows: Arthur R. Smock, Harold Christensen, Lakewood, John C. Sleator, Merchantville; Charles Peterson, Whitesville;Edwyn E. Levy; J Walton Grover, Charles R. Knox, John A. Hagaman, Fred Huttinger, Saunders Levy. Sixty men sat down to a beefsteak supper at the Toms River yacht club Wednesday evening, and all brought their appetites with them. It proved a real jolly affair. Harry Harris was the chef, who broiled the steaks, and the whole affair was managed by the entertainment committee, of which Frank Buchanan is chairman, and the other members being Dr. Samuel A. Loveman and John A. Hensler. The second and third prizes in the open competition for the whole state in sweet potatoes last week came to Dover Township. George Newman of Pershing (Clifton Avenue) took second prize'; Hamilton Tilton of Silverton
