  Ocean County Fire of 1930 As reported in the pages of the  New Jersey Courier , 9 May 1930 FIERCE FIRES RAGE FOUR DAYS DESTROY FIFTY OR MORE HOMES Tuckerton Lost One House in Four Days Tuckerton, May 8--For a period of three days this town experienced the worst series of forest fires ever recorded here. Beginning with Saturday afternoon and still raging on Wednesday night. Every able bodied man and even school boys were fighting fires. There were companies here from Atlantic City, Ocean City, Pomona, Beach Haven, West Creek, Manahawkin, Beach- Arlington and other places. During the time a thousand or more men have been at work. The first fire started on Saturday afternoon at Tuckerton Manors, a new development on North Green street road, and quickly spread through the Wood street area, but above the houses, burned out to the New York road, endangering the Marine Radio Station, the home of  James Cullen , his son's and  Joseph Petzak 's. Nugentown, 1915 Below is the State Census taken in June of 1915 in the village of Nugentown. I have tried where possible to give as much information as I can find on each of these families by way of annotating the census, rather than just listing the data in a table. There were 24 occupied dwellings in Nugentown in 1915, and around 90 residents total. JOHN H. KOHLER FAMILY John H. Kohler was born in Kentucky in N ov 1867. Both of his parents were from Germany. In 1915, he was residing in the town of Nugentown and working as a farmer. H Is wife, Harriet, wsa born in Apr 1868 in England. Living with them in 1915 was a young man named William McGarry--he was born in Nov 1897, making him just about 18 at this time. He was born in New York; William's father was from Ireland and his mother from England. His relationship with John Kohler isn't clear, but there is another person in the house: Mary Kohler, born Aug 1899. In 1920, when the family was living on Clay

LUKER, DEWITT from the New Jersey Courier 18 Oct 1918 Dewitt Luker, son of Mr. and Mrs. John V. Luker, of Harmony, died Saturday night of pneumonia. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Lloyd and Clarence, and one sister, Mary.
