Howard Tantum, age 35, b. in NJ. Worked as a ship carpenter.

his wife, Bertha, age 30.

Their children, Verna (10), Gordon (8), and Clifford (5).

House #151:

Mary Sexton, age 36.

Anna Shinn, her daughter, age 14.

Charles and Eddie Gorgenson, ages 12 and 11 , her sons.

Harry Sexton, age 6 (also her son)

Walter Sexton, age 59, born in Illinois. He was Mary's father-in-law.

Frank A. Harriss, age 151, blacksmith. He owned his property, unlike the Sextons and Tantums, who rented.

His wife, Cora H., age 54.

William Harris, a 75 year old widower, who was a boarder in the home, althoug he seems to have the same last name.

Henry Que (this name is hard to read, and could easily be a half dozen different spellings), age 66, born in PA. He was a farmer.

His wife, Sarah J., age 58.

Two sons, William (20), and Carloyle (17), both employed as farm laborers.

Albert Bower, age 49. He worked as a farmer.

His wife, Sarah, age 57, and son, Thomas, age 22.

Mary A. Hackett, age 53. She was born in NJ to Irish immigrants.

Her daughter, Marie, (16) and son John (14). Two older daughters, Francis and Elizabeth Hogan (ages 25 and 21) also lived here. Both were employed in a rug factory.

Elias Hammell, age 65.He lived alone in a home he rented, and worked as farm laborer.

Emerseon B. Eaton, age 52. He was born in NJ, although his parents were from MA. He owned his property, where he worked as a farmer.

His wife, Mary B. Eaton, age 45, and fathe rin law, Edwin Carr, age 76.

Frank Paul, 65 year old Indian. He was born in Massachussets to parents from Canada, and worked as a basket maker.

Frank Dempster, age 45. He was born in NJ to Irish immigrants, and he rented his farm.

His wife, Mary, 31

Children Edward 912), Carrie (10), Harry (8), Marvin (6), and Melvin (1).

House #160

Morris Metz, age 29. He was born in Russia and immigrated in 1907. He owned his own farm.

His wife, Ester, age 29. She was born in Hungary.

Their son, Manuel, age 5, born in Ohio.

The other two sons, David (4) and Ely (2) were born in NJ, indicating the family had come to Jersey about four years prior in 1916.

House #161

Walentz Karis, age 35, born in Austria and immigrated in 1908. He rented his home and worked as a farm laborer.

his wife, Annie, age 27l, also born in Austria.

Their daughters, Rosie (5, born in PA), and Helen (3, born in NJ)---this indicates that the Karis familly also came to this area in the last few years, about 1916-17.
