Adams family of Washington Township
The following Adams family info comes to me from a visitor to my site, ,Jmjcmink.
He tells me that he has ancestors from Washington Township and provided this little family info to me:
Franklin Adams was the husband of Mary Ann Mathis; he is buried in the Miller Cemetery at New Gretna. Franklin and Mary Ann had a number of children. They were:
Willard Adams, who married Laura Falkinburgh
Blanchard Adams
Calvin Adams
Alfred Adams
Charlotte Adams
Elizabeth Adams, who married Charles Deacon
Eugene Adams
Mary Adams, who married John Gray
Alvah Adams
Walter Adams
an unnamed child, who apparently died in infancy

1. FRANKLIN ADAMS was born 1821, and died September 2, 1885. Franklin is buried in the Miller Cemetery, in
New Gretna.
He married MARY ANN MATHIS December 15, 1850, daughter of DANIEL MATHIS and
ELIZABETH WHITE. She was born 1832.
Children of FRANKLIN ADAMS and MARY MATHIS were:
i. CALVIN ADAMS, d. April 20, 1852.
ii. WILLARD ADAMS. He was married to LAURA FALKINBURG. They were in turn the parents of the following children:
1. COLIN ADAMS , who married HELEN GILBERT.

3. PHILIP ADAMS, who married ELSIE ???
4. LELA ADAMS
5. HERBERT ADAMS, who married ELIZABETH DEAN
6. CLAUDE V. ADAMS, born about 1897 and died in 1970 in Los Angeles. He was married to a woman named Beatrice.
. iii. ELIZABETH ADAMS, b. 1853; d. 1887. She was married to CHARLES DEACON. Elizabeth is buried in the Miller Cemetery in New Gretna. She and Charles were the parents of:

i. FRANK DEACON, jr. He married GRACIE GOBLE, daughter of Dr. Paul Goble. They
were the parents of:

son of CALEB ALLEN and MARY LEEK. Caleb, jr. was born Nov. 20, 1857 in Bass River and died in 1941. They
were the parents of:

SEARS and ELLEN CRAMER. They were the parents of:

ii. MARY ALLEN, born 1889 and died May 2nd, 1962. She married AUSTIN G.
MATHIS, sr., son of AARON MATHIS and IDA ALLEN. He was born
November 5, 1891 and died June 17, 1957. They were the parents of:
*ELEANORA MATHIS, who married a Mr. PUGLIESE.
*AUSTIN G. MATHIS, jr. born Jan 23, 1923 and died 2 May 1976,
in Trenton, NJ.
2. FRANKLIN ADAMS GRAY, born October 28,1896 in New Gretna and died on November 7, 1886
in New Gretna. He was married to KATHLEEN ALLEN WILLITS on June 28, 1941. Kathleen
was born in Camden, NJ in 1913. In his lifetime, Franklin was a shellfish dealer, a teacher, and for
many years the moving force behind the New Gretna Old Home Society and thus responsible for
the excellent appearance of the New Gretna Cemeteries. He and Kathleen were the parents of:
i. CAROL LEE GRAY, born February 2nd, 1946. She married GEORGE HUDNALL
in January of 1969. They were the parents of:

*CHARLES ALLEN HUDNALL
ii. FRANKLIN WILLITS GRAY, born July 9th, 1947.
3. WILLIAM GRAY, SR. , born 1897 and died in 1954. He was married to J. VIRGINIA DARBY.
They were the parents of:
i. WILLIAM GRAY, jr. , born Sep 2nd, 1931 in Atlantic City. He married
JEAN MARIE ATKINSON on June 21, 1953 in Parkertown, NJ.
ii. IRIS VIRGINIA GRAY, born in 1935 and died in infancy in 1936.
