Lydia Clayton dies, 1942

Mrs Lydia S Clayton, 86, widow of Jonathan Clayton, died early last Thursday at her home at Jacksons Mills. She was born in Jackson Township, the daughter of David and Catherine Burke Thompson and was a member of the Harmony Methodist Church, the Daughters of Liberty and Anchor Grange.

Surviving are eight children, Mrs Harriet Poppe, Clinton; Mrs Ida Miller, Long Branch; Mrs Maude Rumsey, Columbus, O; Mrs Mamie Burke of Freehold; Mrs Grace Estelle, of VanHiseville; Mrs Effie Hoffman, of Allenhurst; Albert P Clayton and Committeman Ralph Clayton, both of Jacksons Mills; 14 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren; also three sisters, Mrs ELizabeth Hastings of California; Mrs George Cooke, of Harmony and Mrs Hattie Bills, Pleasant Grove and a brother, Joseph F Thompson, VanHiseville.

Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon from the late residence with the Rev William B Magsam, pastor of the Adelphia and Harmony Methodist Churches officiating. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery
