Jesse Cranmer obituary, 1822

from the New Jersey Mirror 4 Dec 1822
On November 14, 1822, a healthy, middle-aged man, of the name of Jesse Cranmer, was digging a well near Tuckerton, and while in the act of sending out the last bucket of earth from the bottom, about twenty-five feet deep, the well caved, and enveloped him so deep, that before he could be extricated from his direful situation, he suffocated to death.
