News From Lakewood, 1918
New Jersey Courier 11 Jan 1918
Lakewood last week had to struggle with frozen water pipes, a coal famine and the embargo on freight and express. And all at a time when it was filled up with New Years visitors to its fullets capacity.
Wilfred H. Jayne has resigned as solicitor of Lakewood township, owing to an increase in rates being granted the Lakewood Water Company while he represented the township before the Public Utilities Board, followed by criticism of his handling of the matter before that board, made by members of the township committee. Mr. Jayne takes two columns of the Lakewood Citizen to give his side of the situation.
